I'm seeing lots and lots more crashes with Enhancement v3.0 than ever before. We're talking on the order of a crash every 15 minutes. This never happened before. These crashes seem unpredictable; I can load from the auto-save and continue on for another 10 turns or so, then the game crashes again.

I talked with folks from #alphacentauri on EFNet IRC, and they also reported many, many more crashes with v3.0 than ever before.

Here's a dump of the latest crash. This happened right near the beginning of a new game (~10 turns in) on Thinker, playing the University. A city had just built my first Recycling Tanks, and when I hit 'zoom to city', it crashed.

Here's my system info:

Intel Celeron 300A (overclocked to 450, I hope that's not the cause of the problem; there were never problems with v2.0)
Windows 98
128M SDRAM
IDE hard drive (much space available)
Riva TNT w/ 16MB graphics card
SMAC with Enhancement v3.0
Sound Blaster AWE64 Value

This sounds like the TNT card perhaps. Try setting the HW acceleration to 0. Right-click on my computer, select properties, then performance, then graphics. Set the slider to 0 and see what happens.

I had the same problem with my Riva128-based graphics card. If setting the graphics acceleration to zero doesn't help, try going into NV3Tweak and enabling support for advanced instruction sets.

If you don't know what NV3Tweak is, then it's probably not the problem (advanced instruction set support is enabled by default, but some find faster gameplay when playing Quake II and other FPS' when they disable it).
