Since installing V3, I have been sometimes getting an error message "Unable to initiate draw buffer; terminating program" and then program crashes and I need to retart the computer to get back in..... This never happened before. It has happened about 3 times in the last 24 hours. I am in the mid to late stages of a game that I started with v2.
Has anyone else had this problem? FIRAXIS, any ideas on what is causing it?

Correction: The error message is "Unable to allocate draw-buffer; terminating program." This happened 3 times within an hour last night-- kicking me out of the program each time.
FIRAXIS-- please HELP!! Any ideas what could be causing this? It only started after installing v3.

It's most likely keyed to a specific action. Try to figure out what you're doing that it's caused by.

Jeff: I will try to isolate the problem, but it seems to happen at many different unpredictable times.. The only common thread seems to be that it is when the interface needs to switch from one screen to another. Once it ocurred, as I was retiring the game-- it showed me the AC Score screen and then when I pressed OK gave me that error message. ANother time it happened as I waas exited from diplomacy. At least once (maybe more), it happened as I was exiting from the base detail screen back to the map....
When I get a chance tonight or tomorrow evening, I will try to play around and see if I can predict it better.

I've had this identical problem. I first discovered it trying to look at the high score screen, but it has occurred multiple times since at random screens. Always when I'm exiting or entering a city screen or something similar. I'm also sure that this is related to the patch as I have made no other recent changes to my system. I have had the problem on both a V2.0 saved game and a new game.

MapleLeaf: Glad to hear that it is not just me (but sorry you encountered it too). Last night I unistalled and then reinstalled SMAC and then re-downloaded and installed v3...I then went back to playing the saved v2 game and in 1.5 hours of playing did not encounter the problem again. Everything seemed to work fine. You might try that... I will definitely repost if the problem occurs again in the coming days.
