I was playing SMAC (German version) reasonably happily, except there wasn't music (at least I think there wasn't, should there be music). Everything had worked fine since the first installation (full), both before and after the v2.0 patch.

But, not liking the German text, I bought the USA version. Deinstalled the German, wiped everything that was left in the subdirectory except the savegames, and then installed the USA version.

NO SOUND - nada, not in the intro, not in the game. Patched the thing, no change. EAX & DSD = 0 - no result. Weird. I can't explain this as a problem with my rig, as the German version works.

Any ideas?

Why can't you just release all the languages on one CD????? Or have a European version that can have English as one of the languages? Not all people who live in Germany/France/Spain speak only German/French/Spanish.
