The following seemed to work on my machine, I don't know if they'll work on any others, but if you can't get SMAC working, it's worth a shot.

Patch 2.0 Not Installing
-------------------------------------------
My problem was a corrupt Terran.exe file. This was caused by a program called "hpcon" that it automatically loaded on startup because of my HP 8100i CD-R/RW drive. Disabling this program allowed me to copy the terran.exe file from the CD-ROM and successfully install the patch.

The Very Annoying "AMD" Bug Crash Thing
-------------------------------------------
I *think* I solved this one, for my computer at least, but I'll have to do some more testing to find out for sure. Yesterday I enabled the Advanced CPU Instruction Sets in NV3Tweak (all Riva**** card owners have this.. it's in Display Properties, under settings, and under advanced.. if ya own a Riva**** card and can't find it, e-mail me), and that worked. I was able to play the game for about 4 hours straight before I had to get off, and not one single crash.

Today, after about half an hour of play, it did crash again. This was right before I was able to install the v2.0 patch, and I think copying a uncorrupt version of the file and installing the patch may have fixed the problem (donno for sure, will probably find out shortly).

Those are the only two bugs I've experienced so far, if one of the above comes back, I'll post a reply to this message saying so, and if I was able to fix it.

Here's my sys. specs...

AMD K6-2 333 mHz CPU (not o/ced)
FIC VA-503+ mobo
48 meg of RAM
STB Velocity 128 (Riva128)
Generic 36x CD-ROM
HP 8100i CD-R/RW
Diamond Monster Sound II (Mx300)
Windows 98 w/ all of the standard updates

Hope this can help someone.
