I'm having few issues with the game, but the major one, and by far most annoying, is that on a fairly regular basis, the game makes irregular sounds. It sounds like the beginning of a game sound, such as the 'narrator' saying there are drone riots, or that a building is done, but the sound lasts less than a second and doesn't seem to be associated with any event other than opening/closing a game window or menu. Is anyone else having this problem? What can I do about it? I've got a nice new Turtle Beach sound card less than a year old; in fact my whole system is factory direct from Dell and I've had it for about eight months. Any ideas?

Luke - hey, I'm having that problem too.

I use two ISA sound cards and I hear a strange buzz at the same times as you note.

There were some sound fix posts about setting EAX and D3D to "0" in "alpha centauri.ini" (in the directory where you installed SMAC) because the installer incorrectly detects your sound card (see if they're set to "1").

I can't say that this completely fixed the sound problem for me, let me know if it works for you.
