I downloaded the updated demo. It works OK under Windows NT 4.0 (with service pack 3) except some minor sound problems. I wonder anyone knows whether the full version game will work under Windows NT 4.0. Thanks.James

The sound problems are apparently inherent in NT 4.0's implementation of DirectSound. I haven't seen anyone yet (on this board) who hasn't had problems with games using DirectSound under NT4. If however you can get your hands on a fairly recent beta of NT5/Win2k, then the game should work 110% (it does for me)! Well, the US version does anyway, EA screwed up their version so it now has issues with the current Win2k beta. (plus they - EA in UK - also have problems with the majority of DVD drives around) In short: Get the US version. -- Rune |

Thomas Stobie is at least one person who has no sound problems under NT. It's completely dependant on your sound card and the quality of their NT drivers.jkm firaxis games |

Oki, I drew the wrong conclusions. (I kinda thought you said that this was a general problem?)Anyway, I have a plain old SB AWE64. Once I get a free PCI slot (only got 4 of them now) I'll probably upgrade to SB Live! (provided they offer Win2000 driver support of course) Oh well... I've been playing for two days now. Not a single crash. Although my formers seem to get confused when a lot of land around them have been terraformed (they tend to go around in circles unable to find work) -- Rune |
