  One more "Mine wont load" part 2

I appreciate the reponse, Mr Morris, but I guess I should have been more specific: for the benefit of those with a similar problem, let me restate:

What happens is as soon as I see the Firaxis logo, I get "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down", on terran.exe. And I am returned to the desktop.
I have also tried all combinations of color depth/resolution prior to starting, turning off sound, renaming the sound.dll as well.

That's where the movies kick in. Try doing a typical install (someone told me this works wonders). Also, what's DXDiag.exe think? What's your video card? Also, what version do you have (UK/US/FR/GR)?

Does a typical install not play the movies?

According to Dxdiag, Ive got a few unregistered drivers, but my video and sound tests come out ok.

a diamond stealth 3d 2000, with latest drivers

Get the patch v2.0. You can eject the CD on a typical to bypass to movies, which will allow you to at least start playing, and identify for certain the problem.

the only possible solution Ive got so far that doesnt involve doing horrible things to my computer.
