German Patch available .. I fear that this may get worse as it was with the Fallout2 patch from interplay, we waited nearly two months for the international patches after the US Patch was released. I wonder why it takes so long. As I remember right with CivII, there was one patch for all versions.

It's the copy protection. We're making headway, and it shouldn't be too much longer. Once the thing goes into test, I'll let everyone know.jkm firaxis games |

Think I've mentioned this before: ** Drop the copy protection. ** Anyone who can find the patch, is also ** QUITE able to find a crack. And if the COPY PROTECTION is the reason for the MORE than 14 day delayed for the patch. All I can say is ****. LD - We must dissent |

Now there comes a question to my mind ... Does the US Version has no copy protection ? If this is right , why have the european versions one ? |

copy protection isnt good for anything, it ONLY hurts those who buy the game.(dont get any benefit, have to have the stupid cd all the time, its like if someone ASKS if youd rather want a CRACKED ver.so you dont have to ahve those stupid f***ing cds laying everywere.cracked:PRO: dont need stupid cd(can be more portablem,NO cd-check),dont need to spend money on game(dont support the developer either though),most games dont work anyway(so why buy them untill they do work).on some games support can be a no-no. cons: alot of crackers does a terible work(even more buggy),have to get cracked patches also. original:PRO:usually works bether.,can get easy patches, supports dev. to produce even more and bether titles. con: cd-checks,money hungry companies(likeEA) those dumb cd-check only backfires on the supporting customers.(what a reward).

I believe the real reason for the copy protection in this case is the distributers, and has nothing to do with the publisher (EA) or the developer (Firaxis). The distributers in Europe want copy protection or they won't touch it. To be devil's advocate for the European disributers, I have heard through various sources that piracy is much more rampant in Europe than in the States. I suppose somebody in Europe could buy the US version online, and if enough people did that and European distributers sales suffered they might get the message.CEO Bernard |

You dont even need to go that trouble, usually the US-version is also awailable in stores. F.ex. the US-version of SMAC hit the shelves before the UK-version in Denmark.Having different version helps no one and doesnt work anyway!! DROP IT!!!!!! NOW |

I don't know.. Personally I see little reason for getting upset with the patch "delay" so far. Heck, the game was released here in Sweden a week or so ago, so I can't say that I really _expected_ a patch to be out yet. On the other hand, the game is undoubtedly infested by a whole bunch of bugs, which makes the need for a patch a bit more urgent than what's usually the case :/ As for Fallout 2, I'd say it's the worst case of delay regarding a patch that I have ever experienced (or even heard of). 2-3 months for a European patch is completely unacceptable, yet I see no evidence that Firaxis will treat their customers in a similar manner. Actually, quite the contrary.Regards, Calanor

Oh, btw, I do agree that seperate US and UK versions is a major pain, however. |
