Problems:
1.Whenever a movie is played, the computer switches screen resolution, begins playing the movie (you hear the first second), then stops, accesses the HDD forabout 30 seconds, and then continues playing the movie. Is it better to play the movies off the CD? Also, when I got the virtual world secret project, the computer did the above, and then played tiny segments of the video at a time (sound sounding like this: Th-e-tr-ans-fo-rm-at-ion-is-co-mpl-ete). Is there any reason this is happening?

Questions:
1. Is there a way to keep SMAC from playing the intro movie every time you load the game?

2. I've seen this everywhere, but it's most noticeable in the monument and gamma screens. When you move your mouse, you can notice rectangles of pixels change color slightly. It's easier to see in the gamma screen. I've seen it in the main screen too. What's happening? It makes it look kinda cheap, in my opinion.

Specs:
PII266
SB32 value
STB Velocity 128

Thanks a lot,
Timothy

Run DXDiag.exe and look for "!" and notes in the driver section. Sounds like a DX driver problem. We've added a switch to disable just the intro movie to v3.0.

I checked in DXdiag (I have DX6.1), and there are no notes, and no '!'s in the driver tab. Do you have an answer to question 2? I'm really interested in that. Is it something that's global, or is it just my computer?

Timothy
