Hello,
The both versions of demo worked for me for a long time using a ATI 128 video card. Then I upgraded to the ASUS 3400TNT and suddenly SMAC doesn't work any more.
The executable terran.exe appears in the task manager (but not in the task bar) listed as "not responding". The game simply doesn't appear.
Has anyone else had a problem with this video card and SMAC?
Perhaps I should add that I have a Celeron 300A with 128 MB running WIN98, no DVD drive,
CDROM 32x, SB Live. I am not using the latest detonator drivers.
I have reinstalled DirectX (6.1)but this did not help.
Please help with this, need my SMAC.

Sounds like the motherboard. I'd look for other threads about that piece of HW.

Jeff,
I think you might have misunderstood my problem. I switched the ATI video card with an ASUS v3400TNT video card. The motherboard has remained the same.
Any ideas? Please?

Gotcha. Try sliding the HW acceleration to 0. Right-click on my computer, select properties, then performance, then graphics. Set this slider to 0.
