I bought the UK version of SMAC which I had to import because I live in Germany. Like many others before, I can't get the game to run. All the suggestions you posted earlier don't work. DxDiag checks out perfectly, I've renamed sound.dll to dl_, added the directdraw=0 line and reinstalled Dx6. Still, the cursor indicates it's loading whenever I click on terran.exe manually or through the Start menu. After approximately 15 seconds it stops loading but the Task Manager doesn't say terran.exe is not responding. My PC is a Gateway PII-450 with 128 MB RAM, STB Velocity TNT and Diamond Monster II cards, a 32x CD-ROM drive, a Soundblaster 64PCI, a 10GB hard drive that's been partitioned into C: (3 MB) and D  7 MB), ok that's the most important stuff. I hope this might help you solve the problem. The main similarities I noticed are the UK version and the Riva TNT card. Hope I'm note giving you too much of a d�j�-vu experience...:-) TIA, KB |
