Ok, I've got a 450 w/ a Diamond Mx300 sound card and when I installed the patch the sound was all choppy so I hopped onto here and looked around a little. Doing EAX=0 did nothing BUT if I did EAX=1 D3D=0 it now works just fine. How can this be? The Mx300 is an Aureal card and I don't think they have support for EAX yet (help me if I'm wrong). So the problem is fixed, but it IS rather odd and makes no sense due to what *should* be a hardware incompatibility.

Thanks,

Similar setup and found the same also. Can't explain it though. Have you downloaded the recent MX300 drivers from the Diamond sight?
After doing that I found by setting both to "0" sound works fine.

I also have a similar setup with a Mx300 sound card. After the latest patch from Diamond, I too have the same results as Centrone by setting both to 0. Too bad though, as direct 3d sound driver activated would pull less from processor and I suppose would enhance 3d sounds. I wonder if Firaxis is aware of this specific Diamond Mx300 problem? By reading other sound problem posts on this board I believe Firaxis may have a Direct Sound issue(s) that need to be researched more (which I am sure they are doing now). Still a great game and good support from Firaxes.
