Author Topic:   NT 4.0 Server won't run SMAC (on WS it runs) ?!

When I try to run SMAC on my NT 4.0 Server,
it just goes to black screen after Firaxis
logo. On my WS everything is OK (except NT
related bad sound). I tried everything.
Reinstalled Server, Service Pack, SMAC...
Applied SMAC patch... Please, any hints?

That's right when the movie kicks in. I'd try looking at your NT video drivers, maybe some of the tweaking in the readme (8bitmoviesound, directdraw=0), rename the sound.dll, and/or doing a typical install and playing without the CD.

Tried everything. Just blank screen after
the logo. Also, renaming of .wve files
doesn't help and I tried every of 4 types
of installations (CD / no CD etc...). Tried
almost every cobination of .ini parameters.

That is the only thing I haven't tried.
(funny, I just downoladed them couple of
days ago from S3 site... maybe it is the
time to go back to old ones...).

Problem is solved. Reinstalled SMAC without
movie files and *removed* CD. When the game
complained, just hit OK. Now, everything works fine, no matter it is a Server (the
other computer with WS is notebook and it
seems that movies are disbled in laptop
install, so I have not experienced that
kind of problem...).
