When I run the game on my system, a loud pop occurs every 2/3 of a second. I have version 2.0 (patched). my soundcard is an Aztech sound4 (i think -- It came with my NEC Ready 9734A). Please help.

Two things. Update your sound drivers from the NEC webpage (or Aztech). Also, try downloading Dx 6.1 from www.microsoft.com/directx. If that doesn't do the trick, let me know if it occurs throughout or only in certain areas. V2.0 of SMAC may help as well (available from this site).
