Seems that since I installed v2.0, at the start of the turn all the sounds get played at the same time (enhancement complete, project complete...) which is weird when there are like 25 cities (huge map) all finishing stuff at the same time. Airdrop units still act weird (see prev message) but when Orbital Insertion is acheived, they get the -50% combat penalty (orbital insertion) even if they have airdropped less than 8 squares.

I've heard that sound thing and I haven't installed the patch yet.-joachim

I think we figured out the sound thing. Stay tuned. I'll look into the insertion penalty.jkm firaxis games |

Oh, the drop penalty is only if you attack the same turn. The distance makes no difference (pg 91).jkm firaxis games |

I'm going to test this out, but as far as I remember, the -50% was not being applied until I had orbital insertion. I got insertion about the same time as I got the patch, so this may have been something fixed...The thing that they still CAN do (with or without orbital insertion) is drop without losing movement points (for all the automatically generated drop units). All other units I have given drop pods lose their move when they drop, but can be reselected and told to drop elsewhere. BRB with more info on the first bit. |

You're right (duh!) about the drop penalty. I've been suspicious of units equipped with drop pods since noticing that they did not lose move points for the drops they made. |

Hey, I kind of LIKE the way the sound is doing that...sounds kind of cool, and it lets me know that a number of cities have finished some item or another. If it's a bug, it's a useful one. |
