Are there any plans to release SMAC through larger outlets like Circuit City, Best Buy, or Comp USA? I have a vested interest in having as many players as possible available since it's hard enough to get large multiplayer games going (what with the long times involved in playing).

Sure. EB and other specialty shops ALWAYS get the latest games first. Over the next week various mainstream stores get their shipments. Software retailing is a world unto itself..
