I have read every message that has dealt with sound problems...I've tried every solution...and still I am getting stuttering voices and sound effects all the time. I have a Sound Blaster card...nothing fancy, just what came with a typcial Compaq computer 3 years ago...and i've never had problems before. I've tried the fixes with the configuration file...but they haven't helped me. Please help.

I believe Compaq uses ESS audiodrive cards (although 3 years ago is a awhile) may want to check their webpage for the latest driver for your unit. (I could be wrong here, just a thought).
Also, JKM thanks for your responses, I posted something yesterday you answered with the INI file edit for sound. I tried that and still get 'clipping' and 'popping' sounds at times. You also said to make sure I was version 1 or 2, only reason I put that I regressed to version 1 was to see if the sound problems ceased and they did. SOOO this is more informational than anything.
Sound problems didn't exist in version 1 for me and editting INI file doesn't help in version 2.....
2nd issue 'commlink' screen of death exists in both, talk to any computer faction, have turn end or other informational screens pop up over your 'chat' when you return to your chat screen its all dark and your stuck.
Exists in both 1 and 2 versions.
p.s. great game still playable, but these need to be fixed.

KSerra11: Try v2.0. I also agree a visit to the compaq webpage might be in order. DX6.1 from www.microsoft.com/directx might help as well.
