I've been playing the game for a while now, and I'm having the weirdest crashes. Sometimes while running, the game will just give me random BSODs (often in G200LL.DLL). Even if it doesn't crash, my system is left in a completely unstable state after I quit. Unless I reboot immediately the thing's a time bomb, just waiting to BSOD.

P2-400, 96M, tons of HD space, Millenium G200, Ensoniq AudioPCI (1371 chipset).

I've got Win98, DX6.1, all the newest hardware drivers and all the updates from MS.

We'll it's crashing in your video card's library, so let's start there. Try setting directdraw to 0 in the alpha centauri.ini file. You may also want to manually set your desktop resolution to 1024x768x256 (8-bit) or 800x600x256 prior to running the game.
