i've got a problem with my sound now. it was ok before i installed the patch 2.0
now i only get sound at the intro, secret projects. that's all, other then that, nothing... i miss that sound of mindworms dying... please help me find out the problem.

i've tried adjusting the audio/sound properties... on/off and change the volume... still it can't work... please help!

i've read the message posted by Tripole on 14/2/99 at 12.14am... i think that i may be having the same problem. but i don't understand what i'm suppose to do to correct it... can someone explain it to me please?

p/s: my computer OS is win98 and the requirments are all met... please help!

This is a common problem with the patch. This is th efix Firaxis has recommended, and it worked for me when I had identical symptoms:

Open up the AlphaCentauri.ini file. Use "My Computer" to open "Program Files", then "Firaxis Games", then the SMAC folder. The .ini files looks like a notepad with yellow circle on it. Double-click on it. Look for two lines of text--"ds3d=1" and "eax=1" Change them both to "=0" Make sure you save the new version using the File save command on the menu bar. Close the .ini file and go back to the desktop. Relaunch SMAC and the sound should work.

gee... thanks!... finally i can hear the sound effects again... it was getting boring just playing without any sound... thanks again!
