OK, just finished a game with the 2.0 patch applied. I had great fun playing it, but there were a few glitchy things:- On a few annoying occasions, the mouse stopped working. I could move the pointer around, but nothing would happen when I left- or right-clicked on the map or on a radio button. If I Alt-Tabbed out of the game, the mouse worked fine in other windows, but not when I switched back to SMAC. The keyboard still worked OK, so I could fortunately save my game, exit, and reload.
- Sometimes when dragging a unit from one base to another, no Goto order would actually be registered. I would see a gold arrow pointer over the destination base, which went away if I left-clicked. However, the unit would just sit at its starting point, without moving at all. If I repeated the operation immediately afterward, it would work.
- The message summary window has some problems. When multiple messages (or long messages) are generated at the beginning of a turn, often these messages are truncated in mid-sentence (but never in the middle of a word, as far as I can remember.)
- Also in the message window, there is a problem with zooming to a particular event. Clicking on the little green arrow buttons would often produce no result. Sometimes, left-clicking in the window would bring up the zoom/erase/zoom and erase menu, but selecting zoom would not actually zoom the map to the event site. This was somewhat annoying.
These problems occurred under Windows 98 w/ DX6.0 installed; complete game installation with the version 2.0 patch applied. 800x600 resolution (determined by desktop.) I haven't tried 1024x768 to see whether these problems are related to resolution, but I suppose I could take a look to make sure.
