In tcp/ip play, the game often freezes. Bot players have DLed the 2.0 patch and it works much better than the previous version. Yet, the game frequesntly freezes up during the upkeep phase. It freezes at random in several areas of the upkeep phase.
Anyone also experiencing these problems ?

I've had the same problem when a friend and I play. But it is happening on both TCP/IP AND on IPX. Seems to just lock up at random moments during the upkeep phase on my friends' computer and my computer just drops him, even if I click the Don't Drop button. Very annoying, because I have yet to finish a multiplayer game because of this.

Make sure you're using 2.0 (sounds like you are). Also, when those don't drop messages occur, increase the tolerance. If the packets are being routed to Malaysia or somewhere, you might have to keep "not dropping".
