I am running the 1.0i demo version (tried both with and without movie) although I downloaded the "1.1". As a result the 2.0 updater cant find several files... What am I missing?

Me again, getting more and more and more confused. Since the 2.0 updater firaxis page doesnt say a single word WHAT version is ACTUALLY updateable (1.0i, 1.1, final game to buy) maybe the updater only works on the final game? (although it says "2.0 BETA" which would be strange for a "final" game) Can anybody confirm anything? Thx. |

Confirmed. It's only for the Full US version of SMAC. 1.1 of the Demo is fairly similar however. Sorry for the confusion. jkm firaxis games |

Thanks Jeffrey, as far as I understand now the entitling "smacdemo 1_1" is not correct, since that version number is the final version. The only demo version is the 1.0i.?! What about international versions and corresponding version numbers? Also, does the 2.0 patch work on international versions, too?

The version numbers for the demo, full game, etc, reflect the version of the underlying software at the time of release. So demo has versions "1.0i" and "1.1". Release version has versions "1.0i" and "2.0" But the enhancement only updates the full game. We will probably put up a Demo 2.0 (or Demo 2.1) in a few weeks. International versions will have similar version numbering, but will need separate patches. I believe Australia/NZ area has the US version, though, so can use current update. Alright, thank you Brian; my problem about all this version number and actual feature list stuff relates to the (german) publishing company I will write a help guide for. They have absolutely crazy deadlines, the german version is not out yet and I am not sure about differences between all these versions. Do you develop all languages simultaneously? |
