Posted this one on Usenet too. Trying to find out if this is a bug or something with my install.
On the terraform pull-down menu, after mag tubes become buildable, both choices (Build Mag Tube To . . . and Build Auto Mag Tubes (or whatever the exact words are)) are black and will not allow themselves to be accepted.
However, I can manually build one segment at a time (R key), and I can order the terraformer to auto-build using the keyboard (Shift+alt+t). When I do this the terraformer displays a "t" code and goes to work. But the menu pull-down won't work.
I "think" (didn't really test extensively) that the keyboard shortcut only works if Shift is pressed before the Control key; hitting and holding Control first won't work.
I was playing on second level, huge random map, max land area, Believers. All options to automate terraformers were on, including raise/lower and forests. I have a Dell PII 400Mhz w/64 meg. nVidia graphics on STB board.
Wondering if anyone else has seen this? Not a big deal, since the keyboard works, but I like to use the menus so I don't have to go hands-off the mouse.
Or is there something in the datalinks about this I'm not seeing?

Same thing to me - ctrl-t works I seem to remember (as the command to build tube to location).
Is it fixed in the v2.0?

I have v 2.0 and that bug has appeared. Restarting the game (quitting and restarting, that is) makes it go away, though.
Are you using a P133 like I am?
