I am experiencing speed and music problems
with this game. I have a Pentium 200MMX
and 80 MB Ram and I think this should be
enough for running this game smoothly but
in fact this is not the case. About a couple
of monts ago I donwloaded the SMAC Demo and
played the game several times but there was
absolutely no problems with speed or music.
How is this possible? I have other games
like Baldurs Gate or Unreal but I have no
problems with them......
If I compare the speed of the SMAC Demo with
the full ( german )version then I would say the Demo is about 2-3 times faster.
FX is OK, but I cannot hear absolutely
no music. I have the newest drivers for
my AWE 32 soundcard and I installed the
DX6 from the Alpha Centaury CD, but this
doesn't help.

Have you tried to set your speakers' volume a little higher? At first I thought I had no music, too, but it just wasn't loud enough (although music volume was set to max in the settings). Perhaps this could be fixed in the next update? And btw when will europeans get it?

have you swithed to low-res units? They make the game run fine on my p133 and the difference in quality is very small
