Author Topic:   Atrocities-what the heck is going on?

I was playing the UoP and had beaten the Spartins into surrender. Several turns later, I was just moving a transport destroyer through their territory (to drop of some "goodies" in believer territory) and they accused me of an atrocity (and all the other factions severd pacts\treaties with me). I am a little confused as the transport and its cargo (mindworms) did not have atrocity capability. It should also be noted that at no point had I committed atrocities (I tend to not do that (exept once when I wanted to see what a planet buster would do ;-) )). Later in that same game, I had taken a few of the believers bases and had vendeta declared on me by Derdrie (who was also at war with the believers) for asking her to leave my recently aquired territory. A bitter fight ensued, and I was getting my butt tromped until I started rolling out some units with drop pods (LOVE THEM). The tide seriously turned when suddenly derdrie is accusing me of buthcering thousands of her followers and would not surrender (even when I had her down to a couple of undefended bases).My reputation also suffered and Lal waas seriously pissed off at me. What up with that?

There is an atrocity that probe teams can commit against bases, so it's possible to frame someone else for it.
Btw, you should wait a couple of turns for Deirdre to pull her troops back (from what until recently was her territory); AI factions don't like to be hurried.
