My workshop is flooded with four or five kinds of transports based on the Cruiser chassis. It's messy, I want them to go. But when I click on the AAA Cruiser Transport in the Workshop window and click "retire" I am asked whether I want to retire "Clean Tachyon Hover Tank" or other designs that have nothing to do with a transport. A bug? Obviously, and how can I then get rid of my many transport designs?

I posted a similar problem earlier.

I attempted to make a transport unit with the Submarine and Aircraft Carrier capabilities. It allowed the creation of it, but it did not have both abilities. Dang.

Anyway, because it did not have the properties I wanted, I attempted to either obsolete or retire the unit (I don't recall which). Unfortunately, it wanted to do the action to another unit. Suffice to say, it remained in my production screen for the rest of the game.

Cheers,
stick

I've noticed this with a number of units the computer designs which are illegal - I had a clean planet buster designed in my last game. I didn't want my governors building PBs so I tried to retire it. I couldn't the designer never let me look at it properly.
This is the same problem with a AAA cruiser - you can't put AAA on non-combat vehicles so the designer won't let you get rid of it because it con't believe it exists in the first place.

The correct solution is of course for SMAC not to ban any designs.

Seriously, a lot of disallowed designs are perfectly sensible. For example, every James Bond fan knows that Amphibious Probe teams are de rigeur.

"Fixed" meaning they don't turn up, or that you can create them manually?

NOBODY should be able to create them, which is part of why you can't delete them.

At this point it might be futile to notify of this, but the design that I try to retire is in fact suggested by the computer. By the way, if I would like to make suggestions for features, is this the forum, or in what forum should I post such a message?

Btw. I sincerely believe I have made an valuable ally for Firaxis. So far I have managed to make THREE of my friends go forth and buy SMAC

I have this same problem, only the design deletes units on its own. I end up with a bunch of infantry and one or two air units. What gives? Is there a patch to fix this???
