Whenever I start AOL with Alpha Centuari (no matter which is running first) the Alpha Centauri screen goes to a psychodelic orange and blue combonation. Simialar to turning the Gama coreection all the way up. I've tried changing the gama correction in the game as well as in the .ini file and also tried the Directdraw=0 comand and testing the direct draw drivers which apear to be ok (though they were the ones installed by the game). Any suggestions to allow me to play online?

This is just a system resources problem......it happens all the time with me as well. To relieve this problem, try using the old Alt-TAB trick........if you don't know how to do the Alt-TAB trick, I'll explain.

While holding either ALT button, tap and hold the TAB button. A small window will appear in the middle of your screen, showing all of the icons of the programs that are open. There should be a blue (unless you changed your windows colors) box around the current program that is "on top" or currently being used. TAP the TAB key until you come back around to the icon that represents Alpha Centauri, and that should fix the problem.

In the mean time, I recomend getting rid of AOL all together, and getting something else like AT&T or Concentric.......you won't need to keep on replying to that annoying 45 minute message that keeps on popping up.

I hope this helps you out.

While it is possible, I wouldn't think it is a system resource problem as the system has more than the required RAM (64 meg) and don't have a problem with any number of other programs running symotaniously with Alpha Cent. Have tried starting AOL first and Alpha Cent first but neither have allowed a clear screen for Alpha (both were fine for AOL). Any more suggestions?
