Although I ran into errors with version 1 (US), I could at least play the game sporadically. After upgrading to version 2 with the patch, however, I can't play more than 3-5 turns max without getting this error:

TERRAN caused an invalid page fault in
module TERRAN.EXE at 015f:0062739c.

I have tried all of the suggestions (rename sound.dll file, make sure swap file and hard disk space are sufficient, etc.) but nothing seems to work.

Also, I get this exact same error (015f:0062739c) EVERY time. Prior to installing the patch, I got all kinds of different errors, but never this one. Now, all I get is this error.

Any suggestions for getting around this? As it stands right now, the game is totally unplayable.

I have an AMD-233 MMX(not overclocked), 64MB ram, 3.1GB HD, on-board VGA (SIS 5597/5598) and sound (x571 motherboard), Canopus Pure 3D. The VGA and sound drivers are not DX 6.0 certified, but they pass all of the tests and I've never had any other problems.

Just a suggestion, but try uninstalling, reinstalling from cd and then installing the patch again. This might work; it worked for a little problem I had.

You also may want to increase your Virtual Memory......works for me........might work for you.

You might want to try a complete windows reinstall. Stackdumps often seem to be the result of a messy registry.

Could anybody explain to me, why installing a netscpae pluggin fixes a stackdump problem with MS-acces????? Beats me.

It seems Bill G. doesn't know how to write a good, stable stack routine.

Thanks for all the suggestions....

Unfortunately, I've gone through a complete reinstall of both the game and patch and Windows '98(last time I do that for a game). Also, I have windows managing virtual memory. Any other ideas? Getting the same page fault in exactly the same location is annoying and would seem to indicate one specific problem.

Try setting your hardware acceleration to 0. Right click on my computer, select properties, then performance, then graphics. Set the slider to 0.

Well, I tried setting the hardware acceleration to none and still reproduced the same error. My scout actually moved and the turn ended. I went to the game menu to change preferences and the game crashed while I was reading over the options (ie., I wasn't doing anything). Also, I purchased a Soundblaster PCI128 and installed that today, thinking that the onboard soundchip might be a cause of the problem. No such luck (although I did need a new sound card - the onboard chip is terrible). Any other ideas?

hey spartan:

I know it may just be speculation, but it worked for me...

Sometimes other drivers not nessisarilly involved can cause conflicts. I used to have an externeal CD-ROM. After Win95 came out, I loaded it on my comp. Crash, boom. Every 3-4 minutes. I removed and uninstalled the CD, and Win95 worked again.

ANyway, mabye some older component or file is causing interferance.

I got that same error when I tried to runb the program after installing (V1.0i). It also occurred when I tried to run (e.g.) Theme Hospital. The solution was to reinstall JUST DirectX6 from the AC CD. That fixed it for me ...
