All my cards and DirectX mundungus are latest issues. I get echoing sound (mostly speech); random black screen lock-ups after Project movies (the laptop goes blue screen after each one!); some squares around the equator don't draw properly until one of my units gets close; and the <GoTo Home Base> order sends the unit to the nearest friendly city. Finally, the game won't load from the autostart screen. I have to click on the shortcut icon. Will any or all of these get fixed in the "upcoming" UK patch?

Echoing speech will be. The lockups are something different. Try setting your hardware acceleration to 0. Right-click on my computer, then select properties, then performance, then graphics. Also, try adding 8bitmoviesound=1 to the alpha centauri.ini file.
