I have two PCs on an ADSL line to my ISP. DHCP assigns IP addresses to both machines. TRACERT indicates a single hop between them - so they are talking to each other. But if one starts a host game, the other cannot find it - either by search, IP address, or computer name. One is NT4 server, the other Win95 - both play fine in stand-alone mode. I can't play head-to-head with my kid. I'm also a computing support professional, and have done every kind of network troubleshoot I know with both TCP/IP and IPX protocols. Why don't they see each other, Jeff?
