Whenever I startup my SMAC demo, my mouse distorts. It looks like it is stretched out. The location in which the pointer rests is not where it is selecting. How can I fix it?

If anyone has any tips on how to solve this problem, please do no hold back. I want to buy SMAC but will resist the urge to do so if I can't get the demo working.

..you might want to check your version of your mouse driver (should be at least 11 or so), make sure you also have DirectX 6.0, set yer screen res to 800 x 600...

p.s. - don't buy the game if you can't get the demo to work

p.p.s. - most of the review's that I've read have vastly overrated SMAC.. (my 2cents)

I found out what was wrong. My 2d card didn't have a driver that supported an aspect of DirectX. I had to take the DirectX video driver from a totally different video card and splice it with my card to create a working hybrid. I now have some weird options in my resolution menu, but it works fine!
