I was creating a map of pern when this bug got me. When I had drawn up a reasonable section of the land (about 1/4), I thought it proper to save my map. I Saved it under the name "pern.MP", and proceeded with doing something else (looking at secret project movies). When I started editing the map again, any land I placed would reduce the rest of the already placed land to Ocean Shelf, in practice sinking it one altitude level. Reloading the map, whether from the menu or the main screen, had no effect, whatever I painted (CTRL + SHIFT + Left Click) or Drew had the effect of destroying the rest of the land. Now, This is a bug, but what can I do about it? Yes, It's reproducable.

I posted almost an identical complaint three weeks ago, when I was designing my earth map, and never got a reply. I think the bug may have something to do with the map size you choose. The good news is that if it doesn't effect a map after the first save, it likely won't ever. To keep from wasting your time on a no-good map, just start with a tiny island, save, reload, and try to keep editing. If your island sinks, you can restart with new peramenters without wasting much of your time. |
