Author Topic:   How DO you link pictures to custom factions??

Okay, really simple problem. I have a custom faction (I needed go into details - lets just say it's of the humorous variety). I have a nice set of portraits for said faction, pasted in over the ones in the original faction file. So I have four files in total, three picts and one text.
[This faction exists as an additional faction, i.e one you have to load when you enter the 'select faction screen'.]
The only problem is, when you load the faction, you get the text, but not the picture files. I get Deidre Skye instead of the new custom picts.
I would be grateful to anyone who can suggest a way to solve this, especially as to how you can do one of those faction.flc type files, the lack of which I suspect is responsible for the problem.

I've made one myself, however I didn't try loading one in from the select faction screen - instead I just _overwrote_ the existing files (backed up the originals to another directory first). Everything works - pictures and text.

I've done exactly what you've done. Here's how it works. First make sure the faction grpahics file has the same name as the text file you loaded(but I bet you already knew that). Next, make sure that the size isn't too large (I don't know the cutoff, but 2 to 300k should be good). third, you have to load that faction everytime you get into the game. I know that sounds obvious, but let me explain. You have to start another game, and load it in that other game. otherwise if you simply load the game, it'll use another faction's graphic.

Fluffy: Done everything as you said (before you said it, mind). And I did start a new game every time I tried to view the picts for my custom faction. One question - did you still get that picture of Deidre when opening the new faction in the 'load faction' screen?
