Yep. I have the same problem as all you people as well, but unlike a lot of people posting here, I have no weird system configurations. I have a 100% pure Intel 450 mmx processor, 128 megs of Sdram, a Riva TNT video card, and a Turtle Beach Montego II sound card. Furthermore, I have over 10 gigabytes of free hard drive space. The bug that I've discovered occurs at exactly the same time every time. This is the first time I've encountered the Terran.exe problem. It appears to occur when a standard (or perhaps fungacidal) Hive former moves a single square to the southwest during it's turn. It dosen't appear to do anything special, but I can't do anything about it because I can't control it. I suppose the only solution I can think of is to go destroy the former before the turn comes that the game constantly crashes (with the Terran.exe)... of course, that would completely screw up my diplomacy and I may as well start a new game.

Note to Firaxis- Some of these guys are being pretty critical about this whole subject, but come on guys. Lets face the fact. This ISN'T any hardware conflict. If it were happening to a couple people, maybe... but especially in isolated cases like mine (former movement), there is most likely some kind of bug in the game. Figure it out, put a patch online, and lets not get carried away over this deal. Thanks.

Send in the save to [email protected]. If it's a game problem, I won't be able to get you past it. If it's a system problem, I'll send you a save of the following turn. On huge maps, with lots of units, the amount of virtual memory can larger than you expect. Also, many crashes on systems with TNT cards are solved by setting your HW settings to zero. Right-click on my computer, select properties, then performance, then graphics.

Thanks for the info. I'll try turning my hardware acceleration off, but won't that mess up things? Or does windows just make it sound worse than it actually is?

I'll send you the save game file.

Try enabling the support for advanced insturction sets in NV3Tweak, if it's not already. I did that and SMAC now runs great.

I would if I had such a program. What exactly is NV3Tweak, where is it, why don't I seem to have it? I'm assuming that's some kind of Nvidia program??
