I have an IPX connection set up using the GameLan kit. It does work correctly - I've checked it with all the rest of my multiplayer games - WIN95 recognizes it as well.

However, when I tried to play a SMAC 2 player game as soon as the other person joined the game the host would receive a "Message from the Net Underworld" stating, "Oh! No! Send failed!"

The game setup can be completed, but while the synch between computes occurs the host is flooded with the forementioned message and the game synch stops at "Synchronizing Geo[something] (1/1)". Afterwards SMAC freezes.

Is it something that occurs on my puter solely (i.e. some kind of trojan I might have picked up somewhere) or is it a problem you could give a solution to?

Please help. That game is too good not to try multiplaying.

Try TCP/IP over the lan. Also, make sure you've got patch 2.0 (available for euro versions tonight).

TPC/IP yelds null.

I guess I should be a bit more specific - both of the computers (compaq presario 4770, the only difference being in one of them having upgraded graphics card to Riva TNT - no problems there, though) have the same config. The joining person is able to "search for game", while the host is being returned back to the main menu after choosing the TPC/IP connection mode. Praphrasing Homer, "D'uh!"

Both games installed had been upgraded to v 2 already.

Is that "Message from the Net Underworld" a part of SMAC? That could prove rather useful information.

I still hope to be able to lan multiplay...

Any suggestions (except for "format c:" XAND reinstall) are welcome.
